Viking blacksmith

This is a piece from a little while ago. I was reading about blacksmithing and vikings and I thought it might be fun to combine the two in a painting.

Al Swearengen

It's not really concept art, but after taking some time off from painting, I needed some warming up before starting to create a portfolio. My wife and I have been watching a lot of deadwood in the evenings, and I really like Al Swearengen's character, so I've attempted a portrait to loosen up.

I've been using Sketchbook Pro, and I really like the program. It's not quite as robust as Photoshop by any means, but it's really fun to use.
